To Celebrate the New Sam’s Club Opening in Bossier City in 2014, Here Are Our Favorite Places to Shop

This morning, we talked about the new Sam's Club store opening up in Bossier City sometime in 2014 and it got us thinking about our personal favorite stores to shop at. Suffice to say, Julie and I have mighty different tastes when it comes to where we like to shop and what we feel is worth buying.

I voted for Academy as my favorite store. When you got boys, you're always needing cleats, tube socks, pants, jerseys. And you can buy camouflage, guns, bullets, whatever else you need. Greatest place ever made to shop!

Unsurprisingly, Julie said she'd only been in Academy once: to buy me a Christmas gift. Baby steps, right? She says she'd take a good department store over anything else.

"I can get everything there, then they've got coupons so I get 20 percent off and I got the credit card so that's another 20 percent off, I like good deals," she said.

We had a few listeners call in with their own favorite places to shop, plus share some ideas for how to improve on the big box store blueprint. Most of those involved adding beer to the equation.

"I just had a brainstorm," said one caller, "maybe if they made a SUPER Academy and sold groceries and beers that would be like Mecca."

Another called in to say it was a tie between Bass Pro Shop and Academy, but revealed what it would take to tip his vote: "Whichever one is the first to sell beer first I'll never leave."

"That's probably why they don't sell it," joked Julie.
