The good news is that those of us who have spent the most time complaining about the condition of Louisiana roads, are being silenced by the seemingly never-ending flood of road improvement projects.

The downside to these improvements, is, of course, the traffic congestion that comes with the construction process itself, but ultimately, we're all the better for the vast improvements we're seeing in the area.

In the latest announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development we learn that beginning this coming Monday, October 7, at 7:00 am, the outside (right) lane of US 171 southbound south of the City of Mansfield in DeSoto Parish will be closed.

This closure is scheduled to remain in place for approximately 21 days, and is necessary to allow a contractor for the DeSoto Parish Police Jury to conduct improvements at CSJ Private Drive.

The lane closure will be located just south of Bedsole Lane, about a mile south of the City of Mansfield.

As with all DOTD projects, this work will be performed "Weather Permitting", so inclement weather could delay, extend or alter the scheduled work days/hours for this project.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.

Louisiana's 21 Most Wanted Criminals

While some of these have been missing for over 50 years and are likely deceased, many have escaped prison in the past 10 years and could likely still be in Louisiana so keep your eyes peeled and should you spot one of these criminals, immediately contact police.
