Are you one of those "long time" employees?  Been loyal to your current company for a number of years?  Odds are, it's cost you a pretty penny!

In a new study by Forbes, people who stick with the same company for an extended period actually make 50% less over their lifetime than those who moved on to greener pastures.

In the study, respondents who stayed with the same job were rewarded an average of a 3% raise in 2014, but with inflation at 2.1%, the net increase was actually less than 1%.

On the other hand, those who changed jobs were doing so because they were offered over 3% more than their current employer, so jumping from job to job actually netted them bigger jumps in salary than staying loyal.

Definitely something to think about if you're certain you're worth more than you're being paid now, doesn't it?
