Laugh Through the Ice With the Louisiana’s Funniest It Is So Cold Jokes

You might have never known, but the absolute coldest temperature ever recorded in Louisiana, was right here in the northwestern part of the state; in Minden!

That dangerously cold morning occurred during The Great Blizzard of 1899. It was February 13 and Minden's low dropped to -16 degrees. Yes, that's on the wrong side of the zero. Negative 16.

And the day before that, on February 12, 1899, Shreveport recorded it's lowest ever temperature with the mercury dropping to -5 degrees.

While we're probably not going to set any new records for low temperatures in the coming hours/days, the National Weather Service in Shreveport is expecting lows in the mid to lower teens before we see any warming.

It's the ice accumulation expected for the area that could prove devastating.

So, what do people in Shreveport do when it's this cold? We try to laugh about it. Of course, we stay inside drinking hot coffee or eating chili and try to laugh it off.
