While some will complain about the inconveniences of high-volume traffic times and altered routes, others are rejoicing that for the first time in a long time, most of us can all agree that someone is truly taking to fix the roads in this area.

Any that have driven on the incredibly refurbished US 80 in the Haughton area can testify that the obvious efforts of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development are not just noticed, but much appreciated.

And, according to the latest notice from DOTD, those repairs continue, and this time work is set to begin to repair the LA 169 bridge over 12 Mile Bayou in Caddo Parish.

The 12 Mile Bayou Bridge is just east of Mooringsport and approximately 1.6 miles east of the intersection with LA 1.

To make these repairs, DOTD is advising they will need to close LA 169 daily from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm beginning on Tuesday, August 12 and continuing through Tuesday, August 19.

This will be a total bridge closure during the specified days/times and all traffic will be forced to detour. Signage will be in place. Those looking for alternate routes are being advised to us use LA 1 or I-49.

This work will be done "Weather Permitting" so any inclement weather could postpone, extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work days/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
