Saturday, beginning at 9 am, it's The Sunflower Festival, a family oriented event located under the trees in Gilliam. Featuring local crafts, entertainment, art displays, and food. Saturday is also opening day for the Shreveport's Farmers' Market which provides a place for farmers to come and sell fruits and vegetables under the pavilion at Festival Plaza in Downtown Shreveport. The market offers as many as 85 vendors every Saturday and Tuesday during the season which will run until September.  Operating hours are from 7:00 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tuesday market, which features musical entertainment.

Also on Saturday, June 1, beginning at 8:00 am, it's the Heart of Hope LifeCycle 2013;  the second annual benefit bicycle tour.  You'll enjoy a great ride with friendly rest stops, multiple scenic routes including a family friendly fun ride, and a great after-ride party with lunch and all the extras.
