A native cheesehead from Wisconsin, Josh Thompson is excited to be heading to Shreveport this Saturday for our first annual Kiss Country Fest at Festival Plaza. And he's hoping to find some good mudbugs while he's here!

We had the chance to hang out with Thompson on the phone for a bit this morning, and he told us that a classic Josh Thompson show "looks like a party."

"I don't like the music to stop and you certainly won't find anybody falling asleep," he said. Josh is a regular guy like so many of us, and that gives his music an unbelievable "familiarity."

As we began the interview, the "Cold Beer With Your Name on It" singer let us know that he was on his way to Tractor Supply to pick up some dog food for his "half-yellow lab, half-donkey."

We asked Thompson about how he recently cut off his trademark long hair to donate to Locks of Love.

"I've been wanting to get a haircut for a while now," he admitted. "A lot of it was timing because I've got to take a lot of pictures with the new album coming out and I didn't want to have to retake pictures because I hate photo shoots and I was able to donate of lot it to Locks of Love."

He revealed that he'd been growing it for the last 10 years, but doesn't miss it at all.

Also in the interview, Thompson told us about the night he hung out with Hank Williams, Jr. right before his post-concert party and got pretty drunk. He wasn't kidding about his shows being a party!

Take a listen to that story, plus find out what he's got planned for us Saturday night, in the interview above. And if you don't have them already, get tickets to Kiss Country Fest below.
