This Saturday I hope you’ll join for Compassion Dash – Joggin’ for the Jaegers.  It’s an event really near and dear to me as it's being held for a young man that I truly believe has blessed my life in so many ways.  Bryan Jaeger of Haughton had it all!  Tremendous high school baseball player who got a scholarship to play baseball for Louisiana State University at Eunice.  During his freshman, record setting year, his team won the Junior College World Series for the first time in school history!  And to top it off, the Colorado Rockies had drafted him in the Major League.  Life couldn't be any better?  And yet, he was only days away from a devastating turn of events.  Raining too hard for baseball practice one afternoon, some of the guys decided to play touch football in the field adjoining the dorm rooms.  As Bryan headed to the field, not yet having joined the game, he tripped in the high water covering a slight depression and broke his neck.  Left permanently paralyzed at only 19 years old, with all the potential and talent trapped inside his motionless body.  This would knock most young men down for the count!  Not Bryan!  He once told me that at one time God had him on the baseball field for a reason and now, "God has me in this wheel chair" for a reason!  He's one of my heroes and now he needs our help.  He's to a point now that the family is in dire need of a real handicap accessible vehicle in which Bryan can be transported and the price tag on these is overwhelming so to help with the expense, First Baptist Haughton is holding  "Compassion Dash - Jogging for the Jaegers".  All the activities will start at the church this Saturday morning.  The 1 mile "Fun Run" starts at 8am and the 5K Run begins at 8:30am and will wind through the Haughton, LA. area and all proceeds will benefit Bryan's efforts.  For more information call 318-390-2311 or go to CompassionDash.com
