The COVID pandemic robbed us of so many things that it would be impossible to count them all, but one of the toughest pills for me to swallow was last year's cancellation of the annual Easter Sunrise Service at Hill Crest Memorial on Highway 80 in the Haughton area.

A family tradition for me and so many, it was almost like Easter wasn't really happening. It was back during the early days of the pandemic and we were all still in shock of what the country was being forced to endure, but scratching that event pained me almost as much as it prides me to write that this year the Easter Sunrise Service is back!

First Baptist Haughton will put on the event, but again this year, it will be hosted on the campus of Hill Crest. There will, however, be a slight change to this year's service.

The beautiful amphitheater at Hill Crest is experiencing some issues, so instead of holding the service in that area, a huge tent will be erected in the normal parking area and it will house this year's service.

We will still get to enjoy the awakening of this auspicious morning to another glorious sunrise with wood ducks flying past and squirrels scampering around, we'll just be under a tent.

Brother Gevan Spinney will deliver another inspiring sermon and we'll enjoy the angelic voices of the FBH Praise team as we sing about the great news of Jesus' resurrection!

Services are scheduled to begin at 6:30 a.m. but plan to get there by 6:00 am to allow yourself time for parking and some fellowship with your neighbors.
