Jared Harris Is This Week’s Caught in the Act Recipient

When Brad Paisley sang the hit song, "He Didn't Have To Be", I'm nearly certain he never dreamed there would be a Dad as inspirational as Jared Harris.

That song features some incredible lyrics:

And looking back, all I can say about all the things he did for me
Is, I hope I'm at least half the dad that he didn't have to be
Yeah, I hope I'm at least half the dad that he didn't have to be

But even Brad would be overwhelmed with the Dad that Jared "didn't have to be."

We learned of Jared's willingness to open his heart and home to three different foster children and has helped countless other foster children with the non-profit, The Grace Closet, from his wife, Christina, who is obviously in awe of this man she gets to spend life with.

Once you read her nomination letter about Jared, you'll see just how easy it was to name him this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

I would like to nominate my husband, Jared Harris. He is one of the most giving, selfless people I’ve ever known. To begin, he is a wonderful father to four (soon to be five) children. But he’s not just any dad- he became a dad to kids he didn’t have to welcome into our home. We adopted our oldest three out of foster care and each had their share of trauma and heartache. It hasn’t always been easy but he makes it worth it. He works long hours in the oilfield and never complains to help provide for our family. He has served as a deacon at our church for the past eight years, runs the sound at church, and helps with the youth group. He has helped countless foster children through our non profit- the Grace closet- which we began in 2019 in Springhill, which provides clothing and other resources to foster and adoptive families as well as people in need. This Christmas, the G race closet helped 42 children through the angel tree program. Jared made countless toy deliveries and never once complained. We also took in a foreign exchange student from Spain this year which was his idea.I can’t think of anyone who deserves to be recognized more than my husband.
