Caddo Deputies Arrest Two Men for Copper Wire Theft
Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two men Monday morning following the theft of copper wire from utility poles along Barron Road.
Yesterday a CPSO Corporal conducted a traffic stop on Barron Ridge Road after noticing a truck dragging a large cable. The vehicle pulled into a private driveway, at which point two men exited the truck and ran off.
CPSO took chase, and were able to catch one of the suspects identified as 46 year-old Calvin Ezernack. Further investigation revealed that 25 year-old Dalton Addie, was the passenger in the vehicle, and both had taken copper wire along Barron Road.
A search for Addie was launched with the assistance of a K9 Deputy and the CPSO Drone Team. Addie was found shortly after the chase at the home where the truck originally stopped had stopped and was arrested without incident.
From CPSO:
"The investigation determined that Ezernack and Addie used a sawzall to cut an AT&T aerial cable from several electrical poles along Barron Road. In total, more than 1,400 feet of aerial cable were cut and removed, resulting in an estimated loss of over $16,000 to AT&T.
Both Dalton Addie and Calvin Ezernack were charged with felony theft and possession of tools for a crime. They were transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where they were booked on the aforementioned charges. The investigation is ongoing."
