Hurricane Ida Hits South Louisiana

Hurricane Ida hit South Louisiana early Sunday (8/29/2021) afternoon, and people in those areas near the gulf are reporting damage and power outages.

A number of New Orleans sewage pump stations are reported to have lost power. The National Weather Service is urging people not to leave safe areas as the storm is not over. Several more surges are said to be moving inland, and are set to impact South Louisiana and Mississippi.

You will see conditions getting worse later this afternoon and especially evening and tonight. Wind damage, widespread power outages likely. Isolated tornadoes slightly lower risk but flash flooding is an extreme risk. The threat will continue into Monday morning.
