The state of Louisiana's struggle to find funding to support higher education has captured the attention of the national media.

Governor John Bel Edwards' office announced on Monday that the Governor would be appearing on HBO's VICE. The show the Governor will be featured on will spotlight issues that states across the nation are facing concerning money and higher education.

Press Secretary for Governor Edwards Shauna Sanford told the Louisiana Radio Network that Louisiana is not the only state in the union that is facing difficult fiscal decisions concerning colleges and universities.

This is not an issue that unique to Louisiana. There are public universities and colleges around the country that are dealing with this whole issue of affordability.

In a segment that was taped Monday for broadcast in mid-June the Governor addressed the issues that would need to be considered in order to find a workable solution to the problem.

What he’s trying to do is to reverse that course and make it more affordable, thereby making it more accessible to more people.

VICE has been a staple in the HBO line up since 2013. It is a news style documentary produced by Bill Maher. The host of the show is Shane Smith.
