Authorities have closed a major Shreveport thoroughfare after a fallen tree took out multiple utility poles.

Just after 6:30 this morning, Shreveport police were called to the intersection of Line and Pierremont to a traffic complaint. When they arrived, they found a tree near the intersection had fallen, pulling down numerous utility poles and lines.

Pierremont from Line to Fern is closed to through traffic. Only residents who live in the area will be allowed in and out. No businesses have been affected. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and utilize alternate routes.

SWEPCO crews are on scene working on repairs and estimate an all-day job.
