CAUGHT IN THE ACT - DR. MEGAN GARDNER
loading...

Reading Megan's nomination letter from her friend, Debbie Franklin, we got a really good idea that she's one of those people that have discovered that "It's not about me. It's about serving others."

From her pediatric practice, to her love for others, Dr. Gardner is truly amazing and so worthy of this week's Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

Let me take a minute to tell you a little bit about this very special lady,
Dr. Megan Gardner. Megan is not only the Pediatrician to our babies, but she is a friend. She is never too busy to answer a question about one of our babies, or to just be there when we need her. I recently lost my beloved 15 year old Boxer, Cash. As soon as Megan found out, she was on the phone sharing my grief and showed up at my door with the most special gift to honor my Cash. On most Friday nights, Megan can be found at the ballpark supporting her patients and other children on the Challenger Little League Team. Challenger is a ball team open to special needs children, so that they can have the opportunity to play ball just like any other kid. Megan will run the bases with the kids, just be there to show support, and anything else needed to help these kids know that they too can accomplish anything they want to! Every Christmas, Megan spends countless days decorating her yard and turning it into the amazing “Weiner Wonderland”, full of every kind of weenie dog possible. Not only do her patients look forward to seeing this each year, but anyone that drives by is in for a sight to behold! In fact, her yard was highlighted on the news! Megan gives her all to her patients. That is just another reason we all love her. She is never in a hurry and will take the time to just listen and talk to the child and parents—and loves sharing stories about all the puppies! We will always be grateful to her for always taking such good care of our babies. She always goes above and beyond. One of our little ones, Braxton was not feeling well. What we thought was just a routine trip to see our beloved Dr. G, turned into so much more. Dr. Gardner immediately noticed that something was very wrong, and our little guy was diagnosed with Meningitis, and rushed by ambulance to the PICU. Thanks to her immediately recognizing what was wrong and taking quick action, our little guy made a quick recovery! Megan is also a devoted “Mommy” to a very special Weenie Dog, Beignet. (Bennie) Bennie has numerous medical problems, and Megan literally does all in her power to make sure Bennie has the best medical care and life possible. This letter just barely touches the surface about how wonderful this lady is, and this is why we hope Dr. Megan Gardner is chosen for this week’s “Caught in the Act” award.

Dr. Megan Gardner, because you've been 'Caught in the Act', John and the gang at the Magnolia Pit have a $50 gift certificate for you to come enjoy a great meal!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Megan to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.

Though Goodwill of North Louisiana accepts lots of different types of donations and they do an amazing job help local people with those donations, there are several items they will NOT accept as donations and these are those 12 items.
