2016 Flood

Not only did the fine folks in Kiss Country donate a whooping $956.75 this morning in Haughton, LA for Flood Me With Love benefiting local families displaced by flood waters last month, David Alvis and the group at Silver Star Smokehouse/Steakhouse matched this morning's donations and then some with an additional check for $1,000!

This morning from 7-9am Kiss Country wants you to 'Flood Me With Love!' I will be out in front of the Brookshire's in Haughton accepting your donations.

Flooding losses are still mounting for Louisiana's agricultural interests. It's estimated that $15 million plus could be the final total.

I don't think anyone has missed the fact that our area was slammed when it came to the recent flood waters and all we can say is thank goodness for all of the fine folks who have dug deep and either gave money or time to help their friends and neighbors.

After the recent flooding in our area, it will be beneficial to have a plan.

Finally as the water recedes, a new surprise awaits motorists getting onto or off the Clyde Fant Parkway.

The recent and still-ongoing floods have put our area in the national spotlight. We even poked a little fun at some of the networks for not knowing that a) we have Parishes and b) Bossier is NOWHERE near Lafayette. It stands to say that when any city gets mentioned in the national news, it is rarely for a positive reason...

A Forward Assistance Center will be set up this week at the Oil City United Pentecostal Church.

Kiss Country wants to create a Flood of Love! There's an overwhelming need in our area for families displaced by the recent flood waters and while we can't help them all, we want to help as many as we can!

If your home has been deemed uninhabitable by authorities, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has rental assistance available for those who qualify.

The American Red Cross says International Paper has authorized a $500,000 critical community need disaster relief grant to the agency to help with recent flooding in Louisiana.

Flood waters are still covering a good portion of the area. One of the hardest hit areas is South Bossier Parish, and now the American Red Cross is sending teams to the parish to assess damage.
