Shreveport is stepping up the effort to get local residents vaccinated against Covid-19 again by offering cash incentives to residents who roll of their sleeves.

The city of Shreveport is teaming up with LSU Health Shreveport to offer $100 COVID-19 vaccine incentives to local residents. They will hold a series of COVID-19 vaccination events.

The Louisiana Department of Health is reporting that only 45% of eligible residents in Northwest Louisiana (Region 7) have been vaccinated. The numbers of cases of Covid-19 is back on the rise. LDH is reporting its biggest single-day spike with more than 5,400 cases. The last time there were over 5,000 cases reported was back on January 31.

To take part in this cash program, you do have to show a state ID and proof that you live in Shreveport. You’re eligible if you receive your first or second vaccine or the booster shot.

Vaccines are available to those 5 and up. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian that can present identification, verifying the minors’ age. Funding for the vaccination incentives comes from the American Rescue Plan.
