Carrie Underwood is nominated once again for Female Vocalist of the Year in the 2017 CMA Awards, and the reasons she deserves to win are plain to see.

Underwood has been one of country music's most consistent hitmakers in the decade since winning American Idol and launching her career, landing an almost unprecedented string of No. 1 hits. Her most recent album, Storyteller, was accompanied by one of the most successful tours of the past several years, and although Underwood has mostly taken it easy in 2017, she hit the studio long enough to join Keith Urban for a duet on "The Fighter" that reached No. 1 and performed it with him on live TV.

Underwood first won Female Vocalist of the Year in 2006, and she has won a total of four times out of 11 previous nominations, most recently in 2016. She's up for her 12th time in 2017. Read on to find out why Carrie Underwood deserves to win Female Vocalist of the Year in the 2017 CMA Awards, and let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

    Her Power

There can be no disagreement that Carrie Underwood is one of the most powerful female vocalists in country music, not only today, but of all time. Her performance on "The Fighter" is a perfect example of her amazing ability to deliver consistent power all the way through a song, both in the upper and mid parts of her range.

    Her Range

Underwood possesses perhaps the biggest vocal range in contemporary country music, and she gets to show it off extensively on "The Fighter," leaping up into her high range to amp up the energy toward the end of the song.

    Her Interpretation

It's one thing to convincingly sing songs that you wrote, but there's a special skill set involved in delivering songs that you did not write and imbuing them with the same passion. Underwood certainly does that on "The Fighter," which may be one reason Keith Urban fought so hard to get her on the song. He tells Taste of Country that Underwood is just coming into her own as a singer.

She Can Do It All Live

Underwood is definitely not one of those singers who sounds great on recordings and then falls flat live. In fact, she can not only sing her songs live, in many cases her live performances are actually better. That's the case with "The Fighter," which she performed with Urban on the CMT Awards in a more stripped-down arrangement that brought her amazing voice even more to bear.

    Her Body of Work

Underwood is no stranger to the Female Vocalist of the Year category in the CMA Awards. She's been nominated every year since she debuted in 2006, and she's taken it home four times previous, including last year. The fact that she's still getting nominated more than a decade after her first win proves that she has developed a deserving body of work over a long period of time, and it's just one more reason why Carrie Underwood deserves to win Female Vocalist of the Year in the 2017 CMA Awards.
