Bridge Work to Slow I-220 Traffic in Shreveport-Bossier
Driving in the northern half of Caddo and Bossier parishes will have an extra dose of problems this Saturday.

If you're planning to drive through these areas you'll certainly want to leave a little early and pack a little extra patience.
As we were told earlier this week by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, tomorrow, Saturday, December 10, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, LA 169 (the Dixie-Mooringsport Road) at the Kansas City Southern railroad crossing immediately east of LA 538 (Old Mooringsport Road) in Mooringsport, will be closed.
This total road closure is necessary to allow KCS to perform repairs to their railroad tracks. Of course, this work will be done weather permitting.
Additionally, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is advising all motorists that tomorrow, we'll have another traffic issue to keep in mind.
From 6:30 am until 2:00 pm, the eastbound outside lane of I-220 at the Red River Bridge in Bossier Parish will be closed.
DOTD says this lane closure is necessary to allow room for crews to perform bridge maintenance there on the I-220 bridge.
This will be a lane closure only, but will include a vehicle width restriction of twelve feet, so wide loads will need to find an alternative permitted route.
As with all DOTD projects, this work will be performed weather permitting, and if weather forecasters are correct and the predicted thunderstorms Saturday do move into the area, it's highly likely this work could be extended or delayed.
Of course, we will keep you posted as any other information becomes available.
