It's going to feel like something terrible is happening tomorrow (Wednesday, March 20, 2019) in Bossier City!  You'll see smoke, you'll hear the sounds of gunfire, you might even witness some acting as though it's the real thing.

Just keep telling yourself.  This is only a test!  It's just a drill!  And thank goodness many of our local first response agencies continue to practice this, because at some point, it might actually be the real thing.

This drill is set to begin at 8:00 am tomorrow morning at W.T. Lewis Elementary School on Modica Lott Road, just north of I-220 off Swan Lake Road in Bossier City.  Crews will be practicing emergency disaster procedures during the mock crisis on the school campus.

We're told, in a press release from Bossier City Police Chief Shane McWilliams, the drill will last approximately two and a half hours and will aid local agencies execute effective life-saving plans designed for such emergencies.

The goal of the drill is to build coordination protocols and procedures among various campus/facility managers and first responder agencies.

Participating in the even include the school board's emergency coordinators, the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, Bossier City Police and Fire Departments, Benton Fire District, Bossier Parish Emergency Medical Services, Louisiana State Police, and Bossier Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness.

Volunteer role players from Bossier Parish Community College, Louisiana State University – Shreveport, Civil Air Patrol, Barksdale Air Force Base, community medical facilities, churches and non-profit organizations will participate in the drill
