Bossier Sheriff’s Substation Re-opens After Historic Flooding
The Bossier Sheriff's Substation on Arthur Ray Teague Parkway is back open in south Bossier Parish.
The substation was closed in late May when the Red River kept rising, eventually topping the sand bags that were placed around the building. Despite preparations to prevent flooding, including over 20,000 sand bags, roughly four feet of water made its way into the building.
The facility sustained significant damage and had to be completely renovated. Sheriff Julian Whittington is pleased to announce the reopening.
"We're glad to have the substation up and running after the Red River took its toll on the building," he said in a BSO news release. "The substation serves as a convenient location for residents in the southern part of the parish, and it gives folks a place to pay their taxes, court fees, fines and tickets without having to drive to the Viking Substation or the Benton Courthouse."
The substation at 3135 Arthur Ray Teague Parkway is also the home of the Bossier Sheriff's Marine Patrol.
