Ladies, if you've dreamed of being able to defend yourself in the event you're attacked, the Bossier Sheriff's Office will once again offer a Women’s Self-Defense Class to give you that much needed training.

The class will be held Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Viking Drive Substation located at 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City.

This class is being offered at no charge to residents of Bossier Parish and is limited to 40 applicants.  Teenage girls, 14 years and older, may also enroll as long as they are accompanied by an adult.  Although there is no cost for the class, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office is asking for your support of their food bank program, Operation Blessing, by bringing canned goods or non-perishable food items as donations.  Also, be sure and wear comfortable clothing because of the “hands-on” training.

“This continues to one of our most popular classes because it helps heighten ladies’ situational awareness and encourages them to become more alert to their surroundings to avoid becoming victims of crime,” said Sheriff Whittington.  “It also gives ladies some basic skills and confidence to protect themselves at home or in the community so they’re prepared in case of an emergency.”
