High demand for water in and around the Air Force's main base at Barksdale has necessitated a second water tower in order to keep up.  Unfortunately, maintenance on one of the towers has caused some low pressure problems for residents who rely on it.  This has prompted officials to issue a boil notice for those affected.

State rules dictate that when a low pressure event like this occurs, water testing is required before it can be declared safe for consumption from the tap.  Six testing locations have been set up at various locations around the base to conduct that testing today, with results expected as soon as tomorrow.  Until the all clear is given, however, officials at BAFB are asking those that live on the main base to boil their water.

According to KSLA, residents affected by the notice should boil water sued for cooking, ice, teeth brushing, or drinking for at least one minute in a clean container.
