Arkansas authorities are on the hunt for a Bald Eagle killer after a grisly discovery in the southeastern portion of the state.  As these majestic birds represent everything we hold dear in America and are on the endangered species list - you can bet your bottom U.S. dollar that there are some steep penalties waiting for the person that pulled the trigger.

According to CNN, a female Bald Eagle was found dead due to a gunshot wound in Drew county, Arkansas late last month.  The bird's body was moved to the Little Rock Zoo where experts confirmed that it was indeed a bullet that brought this graceful symbol of freedom down.  She was found near a nest, and it appeared that she was tending to it at the time of the fatal shooting.

A joint press release from the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission revealed that the deceased bird of prey was found in Drew County on March 28th.  The two agencies are currently conducting an investigation in hopes of finding the coward(s) who did this and bring them to justice.  Justice in this case is up to a $250,000 fine and two years in prison.

If you have any information, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission would love to hear from you.  They are offering a reward of up to $6,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.  The Stop Poaching Hotline number is 800-482-9262
