If you're a natural born debater, you might be in for a premature death! Scary huh. Maybe you catch yourself arguing incessantly with your spouse or kids, it might be time to start re-evaluating your position on things. You could be killing yourself.

If that arguing spills over into disagreements with your neighbors, co-workers, the guy who took up two parking spots at the grocery store, or it might have just been the waitress who got your meal order wrong.
A new study from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark found that people who regularly get into arguments have a much higher risk of dying young than people who take it easier.

  • People who regularly get into arguments with their spouse or children are 50% to 100% more likely to die early.
  • People who also get into arguments with other people are 200% to 300% more likely to die early.

And its not just more likely you'll die from a heart attack. These argumentative people were also more likely to die in accidents. The researchers say that could be because the stress leads to people doing riskier things, like aggressive driving.
However, there is good news. These results are reversible. You just have to learn to manage your anger. So, next time someone cuts you off in traffic, instead of blowing a gasket, take a deep breath and consider the long term effects of your outburst.
