I have never seen a 4 leaf clover.  I was pretty sure they existed, but I just assumed they were so rare that only a few people had seen one - and even fewer found one.  Imagine my surprise when I learned that last year, a 10 year old in Virginia named Katie found 166 in her backyard - in about an hour.  I thought you would be lucky to find one in your lifetime, but this little girl found enough to break the world record in about the time it takes you to watch an episode of Game of Thrones.  She even had to throw out several 5, 6, 7, 8, and even 9 leaf clovers that she found during her search!

As impressive as Katie's feat sounds, it's nothing compared to the latest (unofficial)  shamrock king - Fred Reissman.

Katie and Fred seem to have a knack for finding the rare foliage, but Fred has taken his luck-lust to a completely different level.  Although his success has not been certified by Guinness World Record, the North Carolina shamrock snatcher claims to have grabbed 228 four leaf clovers in 1 hour and 50 minutes!  According to the statesman.com, he was trying to set the 8 hour record (which has no current holder), and the record keepers at Guinness set the bar at 200.

It is unknown if Katie and / or Fred live near any kind of Nuclear energy or testing facilities.
