When you think of movies filmed in Texas, you probably think of movies that couldn't be filmed anywhere else. Ok, in reality, the filmmaking industry is so good now, they can make an empty warehouse in Turkey look like Dallas...so...

But what I'm actually talking about are the movies that are SO Texas, they couldn't be filmed somewhere else. Friday Night Lights, Lonestar, Bonnie and Clyde, Varsity Blues, Dazed and Confused, and of course Texas Chainsaw Massacre. These movies were so Texas, it would have been ridiculous to film them anywhere else.

However, that same concept has been flipped a time or two. Movies based on a location so far from Texas that it would feel ridiculous to film it in the Lone Star state.

But the following movies either worked hard to avoid showing Texas, or tried to make you think its Texas location was somewhere else.
