Spina Bifida has kept 14 year old Shreveport teen Matthew Wallace in a wheelchair for most of his life, but it hasn't kept him from living that life at full speed! Matthew has competed in the GUMBO games (Games Uniting Mind and Body) in Louisiana for the last 8 years.

This year, after placing first in all of his events, he has the opportunity to travel to Rochester, MN in July to compete in the 2013 National Junior Disability Championships!

Matthew qualified for the Nationals twice before, but couldn't attend because he had to undergo life threatening Chiari malformation decompression surgeries both of those summers, which took months and weeks, respectively, from which to recover.

After submitting an essay, Matthew was one of 13 athletes nationwide awarded a registration scholarship from the NJDC this year! That scholarship covers the $200 registration fee, but not the travel expenses for Matthew, his mother, Leesa, and Matthew's faithful service dog, Embry.

We would like to raise $5000 to cover all travel expenses and help show our support for Matthew! Thank you!

You can help this Saturday, from 10 am to 2 pm at Johnny's Pizza on Airline in Bossier, they are having a car wash for donations. If you can't come but are interested in donating please contact Leesa Wallace on FB.
