Weekend Box Office: Weak Week at the Movies
It looks like the summer movie season is over and done. How do we know? Just look at the box office totals for the top 5 movies this weekend. Another clue is that no one rushed to see "Premium Rush" this weekend. For movies that opened this weekend, it was the highest grossing... but $6.3 million was not even enough to make the top 5. So which movie did the most business this weekend?
- 1
The Expendables 2
$13,500,000
For the second week in a row "The Expendables 2" was the top grosser. Thats just over $52 million for the total haul. The movie made just over $4,000 per screen, but that wasn't the highest per screen total of the weekend. That honor went to the documentary "2016 Obama's America" which made over $5,000 per screen that it showed on. That amounted to only $6 million for the weekend which wasn't enough to make this box office list, but seeing a doc in the top ten is certainly rare.

The Bourne Legacy
$9,300,000It won't be nearly as successful as the previous "Bourne" films, but it's sure to top $100 million.
- 3
ParaNorman
$8,546,000It's a stop-motion animation film that not many people are aware of but word-of-mouth must be keeping some butts in the seats.
- 4
The Campaign
$7,440,000I'm a huge fan of both Wil Ferrel and Zach Galifianakis and I haven't yet gone to see this movie! So I blame myself for the poor take by these box office heavyweights.

The Dark Knight Rises
$7,150,000There are only three people left in the world that haven't seen this movie! $422 million and counting!
