May 4, 2011 Man, it's been a great year for me. I'm a baseball fan! HUGE BASEBALL FAN! LSU Tigers (that one's been tough this year, but we're starting to warm up now) and I love my Texas Rangers! (Get well Josh Hamilton) But as a baseball lovin' Dad, I couldn't be prouder of our Haughton Bucs and my own son, Buddy!
April 29, 2011 I’m not much of a sports writer, but I pay close attention to the real pros, Jerry Byrd and Russell Hedges of the Bossier Press Tribune and Jason Pugh at the Shreveport Times, so here’s my first attempt to recap all the action yesterday as the Louisiana Class 4A State Baseball playoffs began. It became really obvious to everyone at all 3 parks that Bossier Parish came to play with all 3 teams advancing to the next round. Haughton beat Minden 10-5, Benton won over Northwood 11-1 and it was Parkway over Beau Chene 10-3. The way the LHSAA seeds teams for the play-offs will insure that at least one of our 3 local teams will advance to the quarter finals, but no more than 2. Haughton will play host to Parkway this coming Tuesday at 6pm and the winner of that game will make the quarter finals. Either Monday or Tuesday, Benton will face Ruston and that winner will also advance.
March 25, 2011 I've been really sentimental lately since my oldest son, Buddy, is nearly ready to graduate high school. I mean, he'll probably never live at home again...things are changing. He's 18 now...a real man. But he's a GREAT son! So, I decided that one of his graduation presents would be something that we could both remember. I booked a trip with my buddy Mike Echols who guides on Dr. Tommy Brown's "Heartland 10-10 Ranch" in Scottsville, Texas...and man we caught fish.
January 21, 2011 Well, it's official! Buddy McCoy, Senior Catcher and Captain of the Haughton High School Baseball Team has signed his Scholarship Letter of Intent to play baseball for Louisiana State University in Eunice.
