Obscure Sport o’ the Day

Friday's Obscure Sport of the Day was Chess Boxing! Yes, this is a real sport and it's actually quite popular in several countries around the world, particularly Germany.

This sport is a combo of Speed Chess and boxing and is exactly what it sounds like. Two opponents square off on a chess board for four minutes then in a boxing round for 3 minutes. The winner is declared after either a knockout, a checkmate, by judge's decision after 12 rounds, or by running out of time in the timed speed chess portion of the match.

It's billed as the ultimate thinking man's contact sport!
