It has been a brutally hot summer in Louisiana with temps getting well into the 90's the past few weeks.  Unfortunately, we've been hearing many stories this summer of parents accidentally leaving their kids in the car only to return to find they have perished due to the extreme heat while closed up in those vehicles.  But this woman didn't forget she was just plane dumb!

A Lake Charles women was arrested last Friday after leaving her children in a hot car to shop.  According to a CPSO press release, Faith Denae LaFleur, 26, left three children -- a five year old, a two year old and an 11 month old -- alone in a car "to play" while she went shopping. Unbelievably, she left the engine off, and the windows were rolled up.  Authorities say, one child was even playing with the car keys in the ignition.  LaFleur told investigators she left the children in the car for over an hour.  Her bond was set at $10,000 by Judge Clayton Davis, and the incident is also under investigation by the Department of Child and Family Services.

During the investigation, it was learned the estimated temperature in the car was approximately 130 degrees.  Acadian Ambulance was called to exam the children and found the children to be sweaty, dirty and hungry. -- CPSO Spokeswoman Kim Myers
