Most of us are still suffering from the tidal wave of Christmas bills and with our economy in such bad shape, our prospects for giving a big, expensive gift to our Valentine are getting dimmer and dimmer.

Yet, we still want to show that special person in our lives just how much we love and appreciate them.  So here are a few suggestions that can mean so much to your Valentine and yet cost so little.

  • Guys, treat your Valentine to an "At Home" version of a spa day.   Present her with a basket filled with inexpensive candles, bubble bath, rose petals, facial mask and scrub.  To really make this one right, fill the tub with the bubble bath and rose petals and light the room with the candles.  Then give her time to enjoy it.  When she is done, heat up towels in the dryer for drying off. Follow this with a sensual massage.
  • Ladies, for your man, create a day full of all his favorites.  Make the breakfast of his dreams and serve him in bed and then serve him the dinner of his dreams wearing only your sexiest of nighties.  Of course you’ll also want to let him choose all his favorite television shows for the evening and finish the night off with….well, you’re a smart woman.
  • Take your Valentine for a long walk on a beach and be sure to pack a blanket and picnic basket filled with wine and cheese.  Build a fire and enjoy the sunset and continue the conversation while gazing at the moon.  A portable CD player filled with romantic love songs will also enhance the romance.
  • Write “I love you because….” notes and insert them into balloons.  Blow up the balloons, and spread them around your bedroom for your Valentine to pop and cherish each message.
  • Make homemade chocolate-covered strawberries.  Simply melt a package of chocolate chips in a double boiler and add a small amount of oil.  Remove from heat and quickly dip the strawberries into the chocolate.  Finally, put them on wax paper and refrigerate for several hours until chocolate is firm.
  • Lots of drug store photo departments offer a variety of Valentine’s Day specials to make gifts from photographs.  Use a good picture of the two of you together.
  • Burn a CD with songs that make you think of your sweetheart and give it to her/him

More than anything else, spend TIME together.  That's what is wanted more than anything else anyway and the amount of money you spend is totally irrelevant.
