You might as well get used to the sight of camouflage, as that's the color of Fall in Louisiana.

Deer fever is slowly creeping into the bodies of every red-blooded hunter throughout the Bayou State.

In Louisiana's Area 2, archery season began on October 1. This year, the special season for Youth and Veterans is coming up from October 14 through October 20.

Then it's Primitive Weapons season from October 21 through October 27. After that, it's modern firearms from October 28 through January 14, 2024.

Considering the nearly 275,000 licensed deer hunters we have in Louisiana, and the length of our season, it's fair to say that you'll likely encounter someone in pursuit of that "Turdy Point Buck" on a regular basis.

However, it's highly unlikely that any of these hunters will make an attempt at a "live" harvest of a deer, like the gentleman in this hilarious story.

Not long ago, a friend of mine tagged me in a Facebook post about a guy trying to rope a deer and it very well could be the funniest story I've ever shared on the radio.

I've fielded literally hundreds of calls about the origin of the story since I first shared it and to be honest, I can't really even confirm it ever truly happened.  Even Snopes can't validate the true author of the original story.

Course, it really doesn't matter who wrote it, because once you've heard the story, it's something that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Take a listen as Bristol and I shared it on Kiss Country:

And if you 'd like to read it yourself, we found it at eggheadforum.com

Now, if you'd like to watch as roper, Anthony Lucia, successfully ropes the biggest deer in Texas, just check this out!
