August 12-14, Kiss Country is helping to put on the Sportman's Expo at the Bossier Civic Center.  We'll have exhibitions, demonstrations, a Big Buck contest, photo contest and on Sunday, August 14, from 1 to 3pm, you can see and meet newcomer, Frankie Ballard.  Kiss Country is playing his new single "A Buncha Girls" and getting loads of requests for it...but just "who is" Frankie Ballard.   He's a guy who was actually signed by the first song publishing company he auditioned for.  Oh, by the way, that was just 3 years ago in 2008.  And in 2009, he had signed a major-label record contract, immediately after he staged his first showcase for record companies.  Frankie Ballard, by any standard, has moved from obscurity to prominence in near record time.  By January, 2011, he made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry, and by March he was named an opening act for the U.S. arena tour of Taylor Swift.  He's also been named an opener for Bob Seger!  Born Frank Robert Ballard, IV from Battle Creek, Michigan (isn't that where they make Kellogg's cereal) here's a guy who didn't even pick up the guitar until he was 18.  In fact, his dream was to play professional baseball and he attended Western Michigan University on an athletic scholarship.   According to Frankie “The first time I came to Nashville was in late 2007.  I walked downtown to the honky tonks and checked out some of the bands. I thought it was incredible. I was going from bar to bar. That first night, I ended up at Tootsie’s. There was this awesome guy singing and playing there. He got me up to play with him. I knew that Tootsie’s was an important, historic place, and it was my first time playing in Nashville!”  Now, only 4 years later, he's touring the country promoting his self titled debut album and we're fortunate enough to get him at the Sportsman's Expo!  He'll play from 1:00 to 1:30pm and sign autographs from 1:30 to 3:00pm August 14th.  Course, we'd love to see you there!
