Seeing what this Bossier City woman is accused of doing immediately caused me to break out in the old Webb Pierce song, "I'm In The Jailhouse Now."

That's exactly where Aleshia Williams, 35, of the 1200 block of Dot Avenue in Bossier City found herself. "In the jailhouse."

While I'm not sure that Williams thought she would be able to outsmart law enforcement, or she just lacks a substantial part of gray matter, she certainly did not outrun the law in the scheme for which she's alleged.

In a release from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, we learn that Williams has been arrested for making unauthorized electronic transactions from a Caddo Sheriff’s Office banking account.

According to Sheriff Steve Prator, Caddo Sheriff's detectives discovered that Williams had used another person's identity without consent to obtain two credit cards.

Detectives charge that Williams made several purchases with those credit cards and then used a bank account routing number belonging to the Sheriff’s Office to pay the bills.

Okay this is where I feel Williams lack of gray matter really hamstrung her efforts. Riddle me this. Of all the bank accounts in all the banks in the area, why in the world would a person ever think they would be best served to steal from a law enforcement agency's account?

Okay, back to the report on Williams. Detective Roosevelt Tadlock said that investigators were able to trace three electronic payments made from the Sheriff's Office account to Williams' Discover and Capital One cards. The total amount of these transactions was more than $5,500.

Williams was booked into Caddo Correctional Center and charged with one count of Access Device Fraud, a felony offense.

The Caddo Sheriff’s Office has received restitution of $5,698.91.
