We were a little scared this would happen so we weren't surprised when we received the following email this morning from the Public Affairs Office at Barksdale Air Force Base.

The Barksdale Air Force Base 2013 Defenders of Liberty Air Show, scheduled for May 4-5, has been cancelled.  Base officials continued to plan for the event in hopes that a budget agreement would be reached, but the impacts of sequestration continue to grow as the Air Force was forced to suspended tuition assistance Monday.  “These are challenging times” said Col. Andrew Gebara, 2nd Bomb Wing commander.  “We are thankful for the tremendous support we receive from

the local community that helps us continue to focus on our mission, and our people.”  No dates have been set for next year’s air show.
