"Give and it will be given unto you" – a Biblical phrase that's become a way of life for the Abounding Faith Temple family. For the second year, AFT will put this phrase into action by hosting Feed Allendale, a mission event to provide meals to Allendale community members during the Thanksgiving holiday.

“We are blessed to be able to partner with organizations like Hub Urban Ministries and the Martin Luther King Community Development Corporation to pour into individuals this holiday season,” AFT pastor Overseer Andrew Randall, Jr. said. “This is our role not only as followers of Christ, but also as Greater Shreveport area residents.”

The event, which takes place at Abounding Faith Temple, 1600 Peabody St., this Saturday, November 22, beginning at 11 a.m., will serve 200 individuals. Thanksgiving baskets will also be distributed to individuals in need.

“The holidays are hard for so many families in the Allendale area,” Overseer Randall said. “This small sacrifice is our way of loving as Christ does - unconditionally. It’s one of our opportunities to show him to others.”

If you'd like to contribute to the Thanksgiving baskets which will be distributed, here's a list of the items needed:

Canned green beans, canned whole kernel corn, canned cranberry sauce,
Stove Top Stuffing mix, cornbread stuffing mix, gravy mix, canned yams, canned pumpkin, cake mix, frozen turkeys and frozen hams.

This nondenominational, faith-based effort brings awareness of the homeless and poverty problems in the city and provides volunteers with the opportunity to become directly involved in the cause.
