Bossier Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a drowning at Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area in Benton shortly after 3:30 p.m. today.

A 7-year-old boy from Shreveport was swimming with family and friends near the swimming area around the Marina at Cypress Lake.  Family and friends noticed the child was no longer visible and began to search.

Numerous by-standers made an organized line to search for the child.  The child was found and pulled from the lake and at that time Bossier deputies and an off-duty Shreveport paramedic began CPR on the child.

Despite the efforts made to revive the child, the child was not able to be resuscitated.

The child’s name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
