Facebook has been running rampant since yesterday afternoon with scores of conspiracy theories concerning the loud explosion heard over most all of Northwest Louisiana.

What's being described as a "sonic boom" could literally be felt from Marshall, Texas to Haughton and from Keithville to North Shreveport.  Some are even posting on Facebook that the explosion shook the ground.

The explosion happened approximately 4:27 pm yesterday and most feared that the Calumet plant had suffered another explosion.  However, officials at Calumet's refineries in Shreveport and Cotton Valley say there have been no explosions or incidents at either facility.

The next likely suspect was Camp Minden and the old Army Ammunition Plant, but according to Webster Parish Sheriff, Gary Sexton, there have been no reports of any explosions there either.

Some even thought it might have been an oil tank fire that was believed to have been caused by lightning but the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office says there have been no explosions as a result of that incident.

Another theory was that it was something at Barksdale Air Force Base, however a spokesperson for Barksdale says it was not related to any activity on the base.

So, as we stand, the mystery continues, but as we get more info, we'll be sure to share.
