A man was shot following a fight with another male in downtown Shreveport Friday night. On February 12, 2021, just before 9:30 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to the 400 block of Spring Street to a shooting. Officers located an adult male identified as, James Giles, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Giles was transported to Ochsner LSU Health with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers also detained multiple individuals who were also present on-scene.

Investigators were summoned to the location. After speaking with witnesses, investigators learned that Giles had engaged in a fight with another male when the male dropped a firearm during the fight. A woman identified as, Jessica Griffith, who was with the male, picked up the firearm while Giles and the other male were fighting and shot Giles in the abdomen. Investigators interviewed Griffith. Following an interview with detectives, Griffith was charged with one count of Aggravated Second Degree Battery. She was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
