On their Facebook page yesterday evening, the Webster Parish School Board made the following announcement:

The WPSB voted tonight to adopt a revised school calendar for 2020-21. Students will now report Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020. More information on the opening of school will be shared this week.

Here's a look at the calendar released by the school board for the 2020-21 school year:

Though the Webster Parish School Board's official website has yet to reflect the board's recent announcement, the system has obviously elected to stay cautious during these troubling times in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic and will not have students returning to school until Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

Even though the system will have a late start this year, it appears as though the schools will still get to enjoy a Fall Break in October and a Spring Break in late March/early April of 2021.  Additionally, there doesn't appear to be any abbreviation to the system's normal Christmas vacation which is set to begin on December 21 and will have students returning to class on January 4, 2021.

It does appear that students will remain in school later in the spring though with the last day of school set for June 4, 2021.

Also of note is that there's no mention at this time of any type of restructuring of class or bus schedules in the event Louisiana makes changes to the current Phase levels of the recovery efforts, so there's the possibility the school board could release those details and possible amendments to the calendar at a later time.
