It's an annual "spring" thing. Every year we go through the entire garage to determine what gets tossed and what hangs around for another year. You might go through something similar at your house.

It's like a purge of sorts, but I can honestly say that even though I don't enjoy the process, I really do enjoy the results. There are just things that need to go, but you really need to be careful when considering what you can just toss in the trash because there are a number of things that Louisiana considers completely illegal to dispose of in the traditional fashion.

In fact, there are lots people who live in communities where there's a public waste site, and the people in charge of these "public dumps" are very good at their jobs and will reject any of a number of things not allowed.  Some of those are exclusive to that particular site, so for this discussion we'll only discuss the items considered illegal across Louisiana.
