Was There Ever a Clear Winner of the ‘Laurel or Yanny’ Debate?

Truth be told, I am always the last one to the party! You'd think, considering my profession, that I would always be up on all things regarding pop culture.

However, it just isn't true. You can only imagine the laughter heard throughout our building the minute I figured out what was really behind the "Let's Go Brandon" chant.

Even though this actually made the social media circles in May of 2018, it wasn't until last night while watching an old episode of "Last Man Standing" that I had ever heard of the "Laurel or Yanny" debate.

In the event, this is all news to you as well, there was actually a huge social media debate regarding a piece of audio that was actually heard differently by different people.

Did the clip say Laurel or did you hear Yanny?

As my wife and I listened to the audio together, we heard something completely different.

How Could She Be Hearing Laurel?

I was shocked that she was hearing "Laurel." In fact, I told her that there was no way that could be correct. There's absolutely no "L" sound in that audio. And for it to be "Laurel" there would have to be two places sounding out the "L", but this had neither.

There's No Way The Audio Says Anything Other Than Yanny

She couldn't believe that I was hearing "Yanny." She looked at me like I had three heads, thinking I was just making up what I heard so we'd have something to debate.

Nope. I was hearing Yanny and no amount of belittling my hearing was going to change that.

Then, we found this video that actually describes how science has explained why we're hearing something so completely different.

That's insane! Laurel can't be right!
