After months of back and forth negotiations, and multiple votes by the Shreveport City Council, Uber has decided to start service in Shreveport.

Last year, rival company Lyft accepted the terms that the City of Shreveport put together, and started their service quickly after the final Council vote. However Uber had more changes that they requested from the City, and those terms were not voted on by the Council.

But after a few months have passed, Uber has decided that they will be willing to accept the regulations as they stand.

General Manager of Uber Louisiana, David Brightman, released a statement today that read:

“Starting tomorrow, Shreveport residents will have access to reliable rides and flexible work opportunities at the push of a button”

Brightman continued,

“We are thrilled to bring Uber to the Shreveport community and appreciate the hard work of Mayor Tyler, Council member Bowman, and the entire Shreveport City Council, who paved the way for this launch.  Access to safe rides and flexible earning opportunities shouldn’t stop at city limits, which is why it’s time for the Louisiana Legislature to pass one clear set of rules for ridesharing throughout the state.”
