The Space Force has been in the news a lot recently.  President Donald Trumps plan to assemble an extra-terrestrial strike force may sound like a cool way to get your hands on a spaceship and some pew-pew style lasers, but there is another way to get your space on that involves way less space boot camp.  The nation of Asgardia has not only been established - it already boasts over 200,000 citizens, a constitution, and an elected parliament.  The new kingdom has drawn it's population from over 200 already established countries around the world (the UN can only claim 193), and plan to establish a permanent colony (and presumably a space castle) on the Moon by 2043.

Becoming a newly minted citizen of the first stand-alone space-nation is as easy as managing your Netflix subscription - you can take care of everything online.  Right now, the kingdom requires a yearly tribute of around $117 (no moon-bucks yet), but the long term goal is to initiate taxes on the citizenry of Asgardia.  The new nation is looking for the best, brightest, and most creative 2% of Earth, and is even considering IQ tests as part of the vetting process in the near future.

For what it's worth - the Asgardians are more than just talk and collecting tributes, the long-term plan of conquering the vast inky void of space has already begun.  Last year, their first internet-providing satellite is already in orbit.  The plan is to launch enough to provided internet connections for everyone on this planet, then move to space arks in 10-15 years.  After that, the final step is colonization of the moon for the glory of  Asgardia.

Am I dreaming, or is this the plot from a James Bond movie?
