The old country clubs of the 20th century are a dying breed, but Willis-Knight Health Systems might soon be breathing new life into the former Palmetto Country Club property in Benton.  Requested zoning changes were approved yesterday by the Bossier Parish Police Jury that will allow the project to move forward.

Architectural plans for a new assisted living center, nursing home facility, and fitness complex will attempt to mimic the style of the existing country club buildings.  In fact, the original clubhouse would be converted into a community center.

Willis-Knight Health System purchased the Palmetto Country Club property in April of last year.  When construction and renovation begin, the project is expected be to a multi-year phased development.
