You might remember that Little Debbie released a line of ice cream based on their popular little snack cakes... including an Oatmeal Cream Pie ice cream.  And that turned out to be a smashing success.  Some believe that this is Blue Bell's response to Little Debbie's success.  And there are also those (of us) who believe Blue Bell just does it better.

What Makes Blue Bell So Much Better?

Other than that moron in New York city who wrote an article for a website EatThisNotThat that said Blue Bell was "One of the Worst Ice Creams in the Country," (But he's from New York... what else can you say?)  you'll be hard pressed to find anyone around these parts who wouldn't agree that Blue Bell ice cream is just better.

But what makes Blue Bell better?  Do they have better cows that give heavenly milk?  Is there dairy processing that much better than the other guys? I've heard it said, although I can't confirm it, that Blue Bell has a higher fat content than other ice cream, making it richer and creamier.

The return of Blue Bell's Oatmeal Cream Pie is celebrated by those who tried it last summer, and fell in love with it.  It is described as "a delicious oatmeal flavored ice cream with hints of brown sugar mixed with soft oatmeal cookies and a vanilla icing swirl."

But if you missed it last year, don't make the same mistake again this year, it's only going to be available again for a limited time.
