The State Fair of Louisiana opens tomorrow, October 25, and odds are you probably have some incredible memories of the Fair.  Mustard dripping off your elbow from the foot long corn dogs, fingers sticking together while you inhaled pounds of salt water taffy; that distinct "smell" of the live stock show, sitting with that somebody special, hoping you'd get stuck at the top of the Ferris wheel.  And there's those great memories of the rodeo and the concerts.

Remember the concerts at the old "grand stand?"  I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders play there in the 70's.  I remember humming along with their song..."Cherokee People....Cherokee Tribe."  Speaking of the old grand stand, that's where they would tell all the lost kids to go to meet their parents.

A hundred years ago when I was a kid, they'd actually let us out of school at noon on the opening day of the Fair so we could go early.  And the Fair was always muddy!  Long before they concreted and paved everything at the Fairgrounds, there was mud; lots of mud.  It always manages to cool off and rain during the Fair so the concrete was certainly a welcome change.  It's just not Fall, until the Fair comes.  And it's back again!

Through November 11 you and the family will get to take in all the food and fun and make more awesome memories.  Kiss Country 93-7 is putting on some great concerts again this year on Friday, October 26 with Cody Cooke and the Bayou Outlaws and Big Smo.  Also on Friday, November 2, we'll have Palmer and the Panhandlers followed by Charlie Robison and on Wednesday, November 7, it's Texas Country giant,The Justin Merritt Band.  Again this year, the fair is closed Mondays and Tuesdays and anything else you need to know is at StateFairofLouisiana.com.  See you there....I'll be the guy with a turkey leg in one hand and roasted corn on the cob in the other.  (And ordering a fried Snickers bar)
