How Bristol Preps for a Spray Tan at Sun Tan City

I am a big fan of spray tanning, just because I don't like overdoing it in the sun and I positively love spray tanning at Sun Tan City.

Their spray tan booths are always clean, and they have both Norvell and VersaSpa. Both booths can give you an instant tan up to five shades darker.

Before tanning, I usually shave my legs the day before, but not the day of, because it can make your tan look a little wonky. Always exfoliate before going. You'll also want to get your pedicure at least a day before, similar to the timeline for shaving your legs.

You'll want to avoid lotions, moisturizers, makeup and deodorant before you get your spray tan, according to Greatist. They also suggest wearing loose clothing and avoiding jewelry like rings and bracelets that will run against your skin right after your tan.

I like to double-dip, so if I have time, I jump in one of the instant beds for 5-7 minutes and then spray tan. Some say that using the sunbed first helps to open your pores. I don't know if that's true, but it gives me incredible color!

As far as products, I use Norvell's Pre Sunless Tanning pH Balancing Spray and get great results. I may be weird, but I don't use the barrier cream provided. Some folks like to use it on their hands/cuticles, lips, and feet before spray tanning. I've never had a problem at Sun Tan City with the dreaded "spray tan hands" or an orange color where my skin is thicker, like your elbows and knees. Definitely ask your tanning consultant before you get started because they will know best based on your situation!

I definitely use the hairnet and sticky feet to keep the color off of my hair and the soles of my feet. No one wants to walk around with Walmart feet!

As far as how long to wait to get wet after spray tanning, I try for eight hours, overnight if I can.
